Monteith Brown Planning Consultants is comprised of a cohesive team of professionals that are committed to delivering leading edge planning services to our clients. Our staff possess the necessary education and varied training and experience to enable us to constantly produce new and exciting products. Our work often becomes the benchmark for excellence, giving our clients an important advantage in achieving success in an increasingly competitive environment. The Principals of the firm are:



Todd Brown, B.E.S., M.C.I.P., R.P.P.

Todd joined MBPC in 1988 and leads many of the firm's public and private sector projects. As the firm's president, Mr. Brown commonly leads multi-disciplinary teams as the Project Director, responsible for strategic guidance, staff deployment, client liaison, and quality assurance. He has extensive experience in policy analysis, demographic forecasting, market-driven needs assessments, justification studies, land use planning, parks, recreation, culture and library planning, and community consultation. Todd has managed a wide range of strategic and master planning projects for both urban and rural communities. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (B.E.S.) Degree, Honours in Urban and Regional Planning, Minor in Environment Resource Studies from the University of Waterloo. Todd is a Registered Professional Planner and member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, Ontario Professional Planners Institute, and Canadian Parks and Recreation Association.

Jay McGuffin, B.A., M.C.I.P., R.P.P.

Jay joined the firm in 1997 and is responsible for providing a variety of land use planning, urban design, and project management expertise to our extensive list of municipal and private sector clients. Jay brings an interdisciplinary background of academic knowledge, technical proficiency and flair for design to our Team, allowing him to approach projects in a strategic and comprehensive manner. Jay manages the firm's land development and design projects with his skills and experience in land use planning, residential subdivision design, site planning, master planning, public consultation and the planning approvals process. Jay is also responsible for many of the firm's long range planning and policy projects, providing general consultation services to a number of our municipal clients and expert witness testimony before the Ontario Municipal Board. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from Trent University and a Diploma in Honors Standing in Geography (Urban Development) from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Diploma in Urban Design from Fanshawe College. He is a Registered Professional Planner, a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, and also served on the London Advisory Committee on Heritage.

Steve Langlois, B.E.S., M.C.I.P., R.P.P.

Steve joined the firm in 2000 and brings an innovative approach and thoroughness in his research, recognizing and appreciating the unique characteristics of each client / municipality. He has emphasized his role in coordinating project teams and client liaison, while still maintaining responsibility for report generation. His primary focus is on parks and recreation projects for urban and rural municipalities throughout Ontario and into the United States. In addition, Steve is also our company's specialist in the realm of survey design and he frequently leads other areas of the company's public consultation programs. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (B.E.S.) degree, Honours in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo with an Environmental-Economics Option. Steve is a Registered Professional Planner and member of the Canadian Institute of Planners, Ontario Professional Planners Institute, and Canadian Parks and Recreation Association.
